Anyone know if a new version (no velcro) of the Pilot vest will be available in the future?
Is the Flyer vest compatible with the Pilot?

While I can't answer your first question, the answer to your second question is that the Pilot and Flyer socket blocks are the same size, thus the Pilot (or Merlin) arm will work on the Flyer vest. I was warned of trying it the other way around though, since apparently that can cause undue stress on the vest. The heavier vest with the lighter rig shouldn't be a problem though.

Hey Nick,
Yep, i have tried it and it works beautiful. However, a Flyer Vest is about 2000,- us dollars so maybe you can think about searching for
a nice second generation Flyer system or buy a BIG Rig Vest and replace the socketblock with the Pilot socketblock...

just a idea,

Best, Erik

Thanks for the info guys, Eric I do plan on aquiring a clipper this year, but I would prefer to have a separate decent vest for the Pilot, fed up with the velcro. Flyer vest is selling for just over US $1500 at B&H. If it was available as an option when I bought the Pilot I would have gone for it.

Indeed. Our socket blocks use the identical hole array on the back. There are some larger Steadicam vest owners who have bought the socket for our Flyer or Pilot vest for just this reason.

Also chiming in to add that yes, you can use the Flyer vest with our Pilot. The weight of the Flyer or Flyer LE exceeds what we feel our Pilot vest should be made to support, so we do not recommend trying to go "backwards" with the vests.

Bottom line, Nick, is that you're flying! Let me know here or by email if you have any questions about our Clipper rigs.

Best to all,
