SO as a newby I have my sled, 4' post, arm, vest, single channel FF, transmitter and reciever and two plates.
I've seen many operator over the years go into their kit and pull out specialized pieces to allow them to accomplish a shot or a build. I'm looking to build up my own kit and was wondering if anybody wanted to share some of there "pieces or tools" that they wouldnt arrive on set with out.

I figure first of I need a 6, 8, 12 inch post, a D / J bracket, Camera screws, the posts that screw onto the plate for the FF motors.?

I'm primarily looking for idea's on the things I will need to be able to build the camera onto the sled.

Hoping to shorten the learning curve.

Soooo many things. I'll talk about tools.

A complete set of allen wrenches in both metric and standard.
A set (or at least a pair) of jewlers screw drivers.
Needle nose pliers.
Small adjustable wrench.
Big boy sized standard screw driver.
Leatherman (for the knife and the pliers).
On a somewhat realated note, I also like a tupperware or fishing lure box with various screws, nuts, washers and other bits and pieces.

hope that helps,

What do you have in the way of cables? I think thats a big one; power cables for cameras, start/stop cables for the follow focus, bnc cables and a good selection of bnc adapters.

Then there are ways to mount your follow focus motor. The jerry hill 2n1 is great to have, although if you have rods on your plate you might not need it.

Actually, that reminds me - does anyone know the model number / manufacturer of those 15mm bars that bolt onto the standard Sony VCT-14 quick release plate? Often see them around and never remember to check. Very useful for focus motor on Digi/HDCAM jobs etc.
