New Air travel li-ion battery regulations?

new to the world of steadi... I'm infected
I found a thread a while back on new Airline regulations concerning li-ion batteries.
As of Jan 1. 2008 ... well.... what exactly has changed? I read something about the maximum amount of "battery mass" being up to 5 kg, which would mean a lot of batteries. (idx)
Is that correct?
I'm flying to the US tomorrow and I own 4 bp-gl65 batteries, I would like to take with me.
Is there going to be a problem with security?
They weigh 2.2 kgs total which would be within the limit right?
Picking up my pilot there... Oh dear god I can't wait
Would anybody know the exact rules as of 1.1.08 ???
Thanks a lot for your (quick) replies and sorry if this question has come up before... I really did use the holy search function

I do not see you having a problem with your batteries. That being said, anyting is possible post 9/11.
Also, be prepaired to pay extra for your baggage. Typically you are allowed 2 check bages and one carry on. The two checked bags are generally a max of 50lbs. each before you pay an extra weight charge. Depending on what you are taking with you, you may have to pay extra for your bags.
You shouldn't have any problems but be ready to improvise.
