I have a gig this coming Friday working on a PSA (i.e. low budget). Production is coming out of SF and apparently has had a real hard time getting a good deal on a Steadicam-friendly 35mm camera so they're coming down with a Super America from there.

I don't know anything about this camera, but I've heard it's a nightmare.

Does anyone have any contacts in LA that will cut a good deal on *anything else* Steadi-reasonable for the day? Production is currently paying $1400 for the package. Don't know what the whole package is, but I imagine it's some form of a "basic" setup.

I have until Monday to find a replacement camera.

My back thanks you.

i'd say try panavision, otto, or clairmont. it seems like they currently have a lot of equipment being returned. they'll probably make them a great deal this week.
