For those of you who have modified your sleds by adding an internal DA, I have a question regarding Archos (recorder) power. Do you prefer to have the Archos power follow the monitor power switch, or have the Archos stay powered with the camera, therefore not turning off with the monitor?

Thanks,
Mark

Just be warned that the Archos backfeeds so AC into the power line and makes the signal very dirty

Mark, I've got mine powered from the Monitor battery. The Archos has it's own battery which is being recharged off the sled when the monitor breaker is activated, so it's always on (until it's internal clock shuts it down when it's inactive too long)

Hey Doc,

Thanks for the input. I didn't want to go through the Archos menus everytime I turned the monitor on / off, but I didn't take the internal battery into account. Your method will save the sled batteries as well, and it's nice to leave on the Archos's internal battery for playback off the sled.

Thanks,
Mark

Funny thing is that i'm getting the reverse effect. When I add the archos into the mix, it actually cleans up the modulus signal.

I have the 504 powered off the base of the Ultra2 via adjustable DC jack, which charges it. Turning the sled on will cause the Archos to power up also. There is also a setting to which I can set the time for it to power off or not and backlight setting.
