just wondering who invented the description "Don Juan" and why that name - any historical background?

Not sure who coined it, but the character of Don Juan was an infamous ladies man. He was always looking behind his back in case someone's husband might come after him.

I've always thought it related to the Tango, (Very Don Juanish thing to do), Look one way and move in the other.

At our SOA workshop in 1991 I think it was Jerry who gave us the history of normal position is Missionary and they had to come up with term for what is now Don Juan. Glad they didn't call it the obvious alternative. Perhaps Jerry or Garrett could confirm.

the name of don juan came from don juan de marco .spanich lover...some type of cassanova nothing to do with tango ..(i say this cause im argentinian and i now a little of tango and history)

and the reason this aply to steadicam its cause the normalposition of shoting its missionary and don juan came out cause u are shoting from behind ...sexual reference yes..of course...
