Hi all,
Tom Gleason and I have applied for a few weekend reservations on the mountain again this year (they limit the number of climbers on the trails, so there's an application process and a "lottery") -- the first and last weekends in June. Hopefully we'll get one of them -- but both would be great and possibly allow a few more to enjoy the scenery and altitude sicknes! We'll let you know how the lottery goes and how many spots might be available to fill with burly steadicam ops with buns of steel and thighs like...uh...Rusty Geller!

Yeah the last climb was great.

I'm up for it again, and who wouldn't be with WAG bags in the mix...

I'd rather not have either of you on the climb. I only want out of shape people like me.

i think you should have to be over thirty, be able to drink more ounces of beer than your i.q. in an hour and have a poor attitiude in general to qualify for this hike. that would leave b.j. and matt out but include ron and i, i think. there are too many sunny days in the lives of you two whipper-snappers. help me out here ron. i'd love to go, but yet another year of work before overextension at altitude.

I would love to come, but I'm sure I would die and there is not enough meat on me to make it worth your while... I'm so out of shape... I'm amazed I haven't collapsed under that darn 535B I log around...

I haven't punched anyone in a while...

Also I don't drink beer but I'm over 30 and my IQ is low enough... does that qualify?

Two out of four... I guess not,

Well,

I have punched some people a few times in the last couple of months. Does that put me back in the climb status? I am also good at drinking. If you guys consider me being in shape then I will hike most of the booze up.

Just an update. Ron and I have received our trail permit reservations. The first window is May 31 thru June 2. The second is June 28 thru June 30th. The idea for both these times is to head up the afternoon before either camp out at Whitney portal or Get rooms in Lone Pine.

Ideally we'd like to be on the trail before sun up.....The idea is to get up to Trail Camp before the snow gets too soft. We found out the hard way last year!

Any really interested should drop me or Ron a note so we can put you on the maybe list. We have six spots total.

BTW The attached picture was from last year. Just remember that's a fifty pound pack Ron's carrying!

Actually I think the packs were somewhere around 52 pounds, and in Ron's case 40 of those pounds were taken up by his Hummel figurine collection. He just refuses to part with those charming porcelain figures that remind him of a time past--and remind me and Tom of the need for additional climbers. :)

ok...everyone click on that picture and see the pooch hanging over my hip-belt? Twinkies. My pack is full of twinkies...52 lbs of...twinkies. See why I don't want Tom or Matt around? They eat salads, do yoga and hug trees and om even years eat ice cream on their birthdays (not everyday at crafty like real men). I doubt they could survive a night in the airducts of a seedy stripclub as BJ, Brad and I did. So all you fat slobs man-up! There's nothing like a shot of scotch, a twinkie and the smell of your socks after an 11 mile hike uphill to bring a tear to your eyes. The funnest part of camping at 12,000 ft is to tie one's shoes while gasping for air, seeing Matt do one-armed pushups, or watching Tom work his portable lathe. Sweet

rb

** also check the knee brace in the above photo -- a failed pee wee dismount (I wanted off, my foot wanted to stay). So if a fat slob with a bum knee can make it (uh...almost make it) then so can you!
