I love my little Archos AV500, size, weight, capacity, image quality but the image size is smaller and the quality does not match with all the nicer pieces on my demo reel when I cut them together. So far it's been mostly easy to get full-rez clips from projects but that won't always be the case.

Is there anything else out there that is solid state / HDD or is my only other choice to go to a little miniDV recorder?

Robert, I strongly advise against cutting a reel together using video tap footage. Framelines, crosshairs and flicker are distracting. Always looked cheesy to me, especially when viewed against other reels that have actual footage cut together. Also, there is no matching sound to go along with it. I know you have to wait, sometimes until the project is aired or released on DVD to get the footage, but it is worth it.

Fast Forward Video (http://www.ffv.com/p...oproducts.htm??) is making some high-end hard drive recorders that will deliver the kind of picture you need, including one or two that would be suitable for flying on a sled, but they are quite expensive. You're probably still better off with a DV recorder onboard.
