Helical Antennas?

Someone just posted about helical antennas (sorry, I forgot who you are and no time to go digging right now). Anyone have experience with these? Sounds like they might be more effective than sharkfins.

Do you use it on the receiving end? Or on the Transmitter??

You can use it for both transmitting or reception but remember it's a fairly narrow path. So it's used predominently for reception. If you used if for transmission you would have to have a spotter to aim the antenna at the receiver as you move.
