Hi all I just wanted to say that after doing a Flyer workshop with Phil Balsdon on the weekend that l now fully understand why all the experienced operators say go to workshop
I've had my Flyer for over a year now and so l have become reasonably comfortable doing the fudamental skills but was l in for a surprise.
The detailed knowledge that Phil was able to give us from the ground up was priceless. Finally the adjustments on the socket all make sense now.
Also apart from just operating, Phil had some great advice on how to work with in production enviroments. Catering was great and we even got a guest appearance from Rusty Geller - reponsible for part of the opening shot on the film "Birdcage"

Rusty was really great as Phil had a clip of the intro to "Birdcage" so Rusty explain to us his part in the opening shot and then hung around and chated with us about his experiences as an operator etc.

A Pascoe :)

Hey Andrew,

I can only second your thoughts on Phil and Rustys' Steadicam knowolodge. I had the pleasure of working with both of them at another workshop here in Melbourne last year and it was a fantastic experience, not only for me being their assistant, but for all the students as well which is the main thing.

I only wish I had been there with you for this one.
