Hello ladies and gents,
I'm going to Timbuktu........no seriously I am. So Sahara desert, I have the arm protection and will cover all things open to protect from sand. I am wondering if I should leave the modulus at home. Can it take the heat? Also my rig is all black should I make khaki covers for my TB-6, Bar tech receivers, and batteries? In addition to keeping it is the shade when I'm not rolling? Is there anything I'm over looking? And works of wisdom. This is a 35mm feature film.

Thanks in advance,
Aaron

Hi Aaron
I spent several weeks in central Australia (Alice Springs) 40 Degs on a MOW and had No problem with my Modulus (3000) I did take a spare just in case.I would tape over every plugs that you are not useing .I would take as many spares cables as possible .Do the grips have wind deflectors for you?If you don't have Anthers I would consider getting them if you don't have giros. I would try and find out if there are any rigs in the country or near by countrys which if needed you could use just in case.
stay cool

Hey Aaron!
I was supposed to go to Mali last year, but it got cancelled. In advance I did a research in Cinematography.com and CML ! I got really EXCELLENT replies and maybe You just should look up the archieves.(must have been around august last year). If You donĀ“t find it at CML (cinematography.net) archives, just start a topic there. You will be very impressed what detailed answers You get from people who have been there.

The most important thing I remember equipment wise is, that You will have VERY FINE SAND! everywhere !
So watch out for a handy vakuumcleaner !

All the best and good luck !
