ah...Mr Sakamoto. My wife saw this film and now wants me to find another line of work...or at least a better show to work on.

I'm telling you Ron, we should be switching jobs on each other--I wouldn't even have time to fall asleep in the 3 minute drive from your lot, and now it looks like I'll be kicking around Universal for the next coupla months...

Cool Marc. I thought I remembered you saying you had Netflix.

I'm planning to go to the 600 screening on the 8th. Maybe we can make it an informal Guild get together and have a drink afterward? I'm not sure where the Pacific theater is, but I'm sure there's a bar we could find close by to go to afterward. Anyone interested? And anyone know where the Pacific theater is?

went to the movie last night and it was great. Nothing we don't already know because we work in this business -- but it's good to bring the spouses to so they realize why we are zombies all the time. An interesting discussion followed (seemed more like a union meeting). It's always fun to see our union reps look like idiots...especially Short.

The projection was amazing. I was prepared for another shitty looking dv projection, but it really looked great!

Just say no! In my book, a job offer were you have to work more than 14 hours a day, is a job offer I'll happily tell them to shove up their a**. So I guess I'll never get to Hollywood. :(

No but seriously, take care and if you can, work decent hours. I know this can be difficult in the US, where there's a lot of competition. There's a lot of competition here in Norway too, but we very rearly work more than 13-14 hours. And when we do, I always let the producer know that that's not ok.

Take care and fly awake.

I'm so bummed I missed it. I've been planning on going for a while since it looks like an interesting film and one that actually pertains to us. Oh well, I guess I'll catch it on DVD or in the theater if it gets a release.
Was Haskell there Ron? Have any interesting developments cropped up so far because of the film? It would be nice to hear that a film like this was actually having a real effect on the business and the hours we keep.

Haskel was there and as funny and to the point as always. Again, it was really a wonderful documentary. And no, the film will most likely do nothing as far as the studios/producers go -- simply because they don't care (and we are all replaceable, though they like to think they aren't).

It will raise awareness with crewpeople though, who will make the demands on production...and get replaced. I think part of this is due (speaking of tv, where I've been working for the past 6 years) to how tv is shot now. Each episode is like a mini-movie, and they want more and more coverage to cover their butts in post. Anther reason for the hours might be due to the fasct that it's the American way to work until you drop dead (mainly because most Americans live above their means and need the overtime).

am I being too "half-empty"? If so, it might be because I just finished up 10 months of ass-reaming by Touchstone.

Thoughts?

About your ass being reamed? I have many, but they would be more appropriate in a more light-hearted thread. See you over there.
