I am currently a camera operator for a regional television station in Manchester England. I am writing my dissertation about the steadicam.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any links to recources about steadicam. I specifically need opinions of steadicam users to use as references within my critique.

Can anyone help me? It would be much appreciated.

Books, online articles, etc. would be a great.

Thanks,

Gr3ggy

Hi Gregg,

Try these links :
http://www.steadicam...soamanual.shtml
You could be especially interested in the "steadicam ressource manual". It doesen't mention the newest models, but still very nice.

Some great articles about steadicam.

One of the only books about steadicam...
"Steadicam, First Edition : Techniques and aesthetics"

http://www.garrettcam.com/
Garrett Brown's website, there is an interesting documentary film about steadicam.

Loads of steadicam related links here, great ressource !

And of course this forum ;)
Probably the best ressource you can imagine, have a look at the archives.

Have fun !
Nils.

I'm also in Manchester if you need any help.

A good google search for Steadicam will haul up some good stuff, there's a 'Steadicam FAQ' which might answer some of the questions you may have.

Joe McNally might also be a good person to speak to, he has some interesting reading on his website, www.joesjibs.co.uk, click on Steadicam.
