I have owned two of the SmallHD DP7's for about a year. They work well on stage, but have serious issues when the sun hits them just so, and the screen goes completely out. Angling the monitor with my Cam-Jam yokes usually helps, but that isn't always apparent on the first take and flying blind isn't fun. Others have stated that they are too light without an onboard battery, but that is more of a personal preference thing, and perhaps for your use that wouldn't be an issue. I've also heard people complain about the image latency but I think most of that comes from the camera body itself, not the monitor. I've been happy with my purchases except for daylight viewing when the sun hits that perfect angle and the image goes completely away. I've just completed a show in the Dominican Republic with lots of daylight exterior work and it has been troublesome enough that I'm actually in the process of looking for suitable replacements.
I also own a SmallHD 702, which is a great onboard monitor for traditional operating, but it is far too light and reflective for use on the rig, at least for my taste. Good luck with your search!
