Has anybody checked out Heden's new FIZ system? I keep reading tweets, but there is nothing posted about it anywhere else.

Hi Alan,

If you mean the single channel digital system "HLC"- (I wasn't aware they were calling it the carat), yes I have 2 that are running on a local drama, they have done 2 seasons and clocked up over 1500 hrs of "on camera" time each (these are used exclusively for focus, never a traditional follow focus). They haven't skipped a beat. Accurate and reliable and the controller on the camera is ultra small and light. Prestons (that I also have) are still first choice for TVCs and higher end dramas, but these are a great alternative.

Ben, is that what you have? They were talking about the carat like it was brand new.

I just got some more info: it's Heden's miniature FIZ unit. Looks pretty sweet. Works natively with Cabrio.

yeah, the only difference is the carat engraving as far as I can tell. Its not FIZ (Focus/Iris/Zoom), just one channel.

According to Heden, it is a FIZ. I haven't gotten any word on whether that is just when you hook it into the Cabrio or not.

The Carat is single channel system and you can choose which channel of a FIZ lens (like the Cabrio) to command.
