I start on a movie  in a month and have changed most of my gear to SDI. Since I made that decision almost all the jobs I've done are film, including the next 2 movies that I do.

I wanted a converter that would take the analog signal from the video tap and change it to SDI.

I have seen one from AJA and one from Black Magic designs. The AJA one is more expensive. Is it necessarily better ? Anyone use these ?

Any information will be welcome.

Thanks

Sanjay

In my experience, with the mini converters, AJA vs. BlackMagic is like Canon vs. Nikon: personal preference, but both get the job done quite well.

Out of curiosity, do you no longer have any capability for analog video on your sled? Even with the HD options on the XCS, PRO and Tiffen sleds, there's still an analog line. And if the Analog line isn't working out, you can still hose an analog signal through a wire labeled "HD-SDI". It's still just copper running from BNC to BNC.

Or are you trying to convert analog to SDI for a wireless transmitter as well?

Hi William,

I have analog on my sled, its just that both my transmitters are SDi (and analog) and my onboard recorder is SDI only. I dont like the ARCHOS that I've been using all along, and I cant seem to find a decent analog onboard recorder. I have a good SDI recorder, so I figured why not just convert the signal to SDi, then my setup is always the same.
