Hello,

So I'm running the HD-SDI signal from the Epic to my Decimator 2 to get a SD signal for my Master sled and that works fine.

But when I try to use the HDMI out from the Decimator for the Paralinx Arrow I don't get a signal.

The Paralinx works off of my DSLR, so it's not on that end.

Anyone else have this problem?

thanks!

Hey Scott

A Decimator 2, out of the box, does not do scaling to HDMI. You need to hook it up to a computer, install the Decimator control panel from the Decimator website, and enable scaling in the menu. It's literally a check box you have to check, and for good measure, set it to the scaled format you want (I think I set mine to 1080i 59.97 for maximum broadcast range).

Should work immediately after that.

Thanks William! I'll try that immediately.

What about the "Recognise 1080i formats as 1080psf" option?

Should I enable that?

From another RedByte manual: "This indicates if 1080i isrecognised as 1080psfinstead of 1080i. As 1080i and 1080psf have the same

format structure."

They have the same structure, but most HDMI devices don't like PSF as the basic standard doesn't allow for it (as far as I know). Thus, I believe that the Decimator can interpret PSF into i, and vis-versa. I have had issues (before I discovered the scaling option) with PSF only cameras (like the F900) and HDMI transmitters.

I am not positive if that answers your question, but hopefully it provides some useful information.

Be aware that some scaling options might cause a frame delay.

Which options are those?!?! Can't drop that on us without giving the proper details!

It's because I'm not sure, haha. I left mine at the factory default and it works great, but I have rented a unit before that had some settings configured on it that caused a delay. I thought I would chime in just so that maybe it won't be a surprise question from the director. I think it might mention something about it on the Decimator website.

Turned the scaling option on, didn't touch the psf thing and it works like a charm.

No noticeable delay.

Thanks all.
