I'm flying the 5D Mk III next week. I've never used this camera, i try to avoid the DSLR's.

Whats the best way to:

Fly an onboard exposure monitor for the DP

Get an HD Image into my sled

Get an HD Image to my HD transmitter?

I've used the MK I and hated the loss of image issue.

Is this camera any different?

I have the hdmi to sdi converter, and have thought about broadcasting SD if it makes my life any easier.

I don't mind flying an onboard. I need the weight.

Ramon

With the latest firmware you have full HD output (clean hdmi with 4:2:2 8 Bit uncompressed).

The mkIII doesn't have the issue of switching to SD when recording that the mkII had. You're good to go with a HDMI to SDI converter. Then it's like any other SDI camera from there.

Just like these guys said, the MkIII doesnt downres the image, so youre good to go with a converter. I have used an Israeli arm with a hot-shoe mount like this one http://www.bhphotovi...s=REG&A=details

and then used it to oversling a SmallHD monitor off the side of the camera.

I believe SmallHD and other manufacturers have ptap options so that you can plug straight into a ptap battery plate. http://store.smallhd...tap-Barrel-45in

I have used the setup below (built by cedric martin) and others similar in order to get power to different components above the post. there are also Canon-Ptap solutions: http://www.switronix...&category_id=39
