I am looking to have some cases re-foamed. Trying to go for custom work over "pluck and pull". Anyone have a place with in driving distance from New York City?

Steve Zuch can do it, but it isn't that cost effective.
Hope that helps.

I'm not sure whether this helps you or not but Charlie at Master Case in LA has templates for almost every item we use across the board in the film business and doubt anyone does a nicer custom job than they do with foam. They use varying layers of hard and soft to create the shape and then use a router to round the edges. He could do your foam if you know the items you have and give him your case dimensions. Shipping foam is cheaper than shipping cases.

Hi, I haven't personally used this guy yet, but I've seen many cases he's foamed out. Very high quality work, and uses dense foam for longevity. He's based in MN though, not NY.

This is Pelican's OEM for custom foam: http://www.gbwoodcock.com/

They do great work, and their engineers make great designs.

Try AlPack in Garfield, NJ.
Les Weinstock.

He made cases for Henry Fraga and myself for 2 Artemis Sleds, 2 Custom EFP Sleds
and other cases for accessories.

They also print labels.

So I went with the Kaizen foam I mentioned above and I'm really happy so far. It is a DIY thing where you cut the foam yourself. The plus point is that the foam is much better quality than the pluck and pull crap for about the same price.

It comes in multiple sheets of about 2 inch thick made of multiple thin layers that you can pull apart horizontally. No cuts vertically, you do them with a box cutter (see video) I then glued the sheets together with carpet tape and the whole thing is pretty sturdy for much less than a laser cut one.

$81.99 for the Pluck an pull

$98.84+shipping for the Kaizen

Diego at www.MyCaseBuilder.com was great to me. I ordered new custom foam for my sled case.  Designed it online with their software and then worked further with him on the wheel cutouts.  Everything came out great and fit like a glove.  Cost me $190 including the Fail Safe ($8) that they offer in case you mess up on the measuring.  Very useful to me and definitely worth it.

Hope this helps with anyone looking to do this in the future.

I agree with Kat just had my sled case redone there and it looks fantastic. They are located in Paterson NJ. I went there instead of using the online program and had one of there designers take all the measurements. It was at an additional cost but was worth it. Contact Eric over there if you choose to go this route and drop my name. Great guy. Attached File  ImageUploadedByTapatalk1454425778.798964.jpg   478.31KB   26 downloads
