Hi All

I was wondering if there was anyone (preferably UK based) that could either Hire me a G-Zoom for a 2 week job or point me in the right direction of where I can hire one.

I have a job starting 28th August where I will need to run zoom and focus (yes I know this is a taboo but I have no choice) for a couple of weeks. I don't want to buy one as I don't do enough operating at this stage to fork out for one.

Anyone that might be able to help out please get in touch.

Many thanks

Ross

Because by me running zoom and focus personally it is doing FF assistants out of a job. In this particular instance I have no choice as the company I am working for will not pay for or provide a trained FF assistant so I have to do it by myself.

Thats really unfortunate, in our genre (Live TV) we have no choice but to do zoom and focus ourselves BUT I never take a job without an assist. He/she may not be trained follow focus but they are always watching my back and if there is no one to watch my back, coil the cable or pull focus, then Uncle Rob doesn't take the job.

Just to set the record straight for all you guys out there that think doing zoom and focus while operating is taboo, it should be Taboo if it's killing a FF assist position but that assist should be with you weather he's pulling focus or just watching your back, just my opinion. By the way my FF guys love it when I am doing it because they don't have to . . . .

Ahh, I remember when I would get a focus puller and a safety utility on live shows....Those days are gone.

I prefer pulling focus myself on TV gigs. My assistant should be there for my safety alone. If I had an FA, I'd want it to be an additional person, not my assitant, and I'd rather not have two people trailing me at all times.
