Did anyone else in the 600 get a letter from the "Coalition for a democratic Union?"

Is this the Militant wing of the Camera Guild? (as I raise my pinky finger up to my lips and shrug my shoulders)

I wish I knew more about the politics of our union. I've gone to the last couple of meetings and there were some pretty irate & vocal people there... whew!

I've talked to a few steadicam ops who are, lets just say, not pleased either with the way things are going. (I refuse to mention names so don't ask :P )

This coalitions main beef is

1. The rate our jobs are being outsourced.
2. The number of members qualifying for health coverage continues to drop
(I actually haven't yet met the requirements after 1.5 years in the union... when, lord, when??!?!)
3. Current adminstration of the local has not adequately addressed the problems we are facing in finding sufficient work.. etc..

This might be interesting to goto:

The Coalition meeting is being held on February 7th at 10am
116 S. Buena Vista St in Burbank

Also coming up...

The ASC open house, also on the 7th, starts at 11am.

The Local 600 National meeting is on February 21 at 10 am.

That is all.
