Hi fellow ops,

I'm writing this for a friend of mine who's not so good at writing in english. Marco Buzzetti, a great steadicam operator based in Italy. His equipment has been stolen some months ago (december 2010), after months of search obviously it has come out again on ebay. A complete master elite sled, arm and vest on sale for just 9000 euros. Since from the request a pro op should understand there's something strange in the deal and in fact there is. It's stolen equipment. You can easily recognize the sled because it's hardly customized and has got top stage and gimble yellow/gold, arm and vest are Master.

What we're asking to the comunity it to stay away from bidding this equipment and if possible to help recollect it. Italian postal police said they can do few about it since the equipment is now located in Romania (as suggested in the ebay annouce).
i'll attach a pic and the old ebay offer where you can see more photos.

Thanks for the help and the support.

My best to all of you.
Matteo

Matteo;

So sorry about the bad situation.

Isn't there a place where you can ask questions of the seller?

Why not put in a "question" that says; "This gear is stolen. Do not buy it." Or "Isn't this gear stolen? It matches Serial numbers of Stolen gear. . ."

At least they'd never profit from their theft.

Just an idea.

Hope he got reimbursed.

Interpol? Contact EBay. Unscrupulous people try to sell stolen items all the time and they must have some mechanism to deal with it and cancel the auction.

http://www.ehow.com/...items-ebay.html

Here is an eBay page on what to do about stolen good on eBay...

I wish your friend success in solving this Matteo.

I wonder if there is anything a Romanian Operator can do on your behalf. Are there Romanian Operators here?

Hey Matteo!
I had talk with Marco via phone some days ago for ask him a favour. Then, I found this very similar and particular rig on ebay. I wasn't sure it was his steadicam... anyway, something told me: "I must say to Buzz what I found!" So, I sent the ebay page via pm on his facebook profile.

Hope all returns to the real owner!!!

Best, Steve.
