I just received my Steadicam Pilot AA version a couple of days ago and tried several time to achieve static and dynamic balance. I was able to get static balance along with the three second drop time, but dynamic balance is proven to be more difficult. I was able to reduce the wobble a little , but gets worse after several spins.

I'm using a Panasonic AF100 with a Nikon AIS 24mm lens roughly 4 pounds.

I'm a little confused on weight placement and proper adjustment of the battery and monitor after static balance to get dynamic balance.

I watched the EFP Training DVD which is a little different than pilot.

Any tips from advance users would be awesome!

Hey there, thought I should drop a line too.

I just bought my Pilot today. I have the HPX170 and after spending the whole afternoon putting it on and everything, I THINK I have dynamic balance. I spin it, push it hard forward and back, up and down, left and right, the camera doesn't really wobble. It just rotates ever so slowly a bit. That is a pretty good proof that I have dynamic balance, right?

The problem starts when I put my left hand on the post. It then starts to wobble and stuff. It seems like the more I try to control it with my left hand the worse it gets, but I have to use my left hand to actually frame my shot.

Is it a matter of practice? Should I get that EFP DVD or are there other GOOD options right there for in home training?

Thanks alot.

This Steadicam thing is fun!

Thanks I have - came with my Pilot of course. I even saw it before I bought it. According to it I do have dynamic balance. But you know, as a newbie I just wanted to double confirm with a live human being.
