I'd like everyones opinions and thoughts on Anton Bauer's best gold mount 3 stud or v mount batteries. Which models are the best and is gold or V mount more popular then the other? Look forward to everyone's insight.

This question depends on:

Where you are located

what is your primary use of the batteries (Ie what cameras)

what your future plans are for location and type of work

without that your question has no answer

Lol no spam. Just researching best batteries as we get numerous special orders for gold mount 3 stud , but we normally package gear with v mount swap pack and batteries. So I'm wondering what people use on a daily basis and why they prefer one mount over the other. I'm just looking for people's general opinion on both styles, so we can see which the majority of the market prefers and change our setup if needed.

I'm not here to rep my stuff, that's just the company I work for. No worries!

A short thought from my POV is that V mounts suck because they do not stay attached as well as they should. I can hang a gold mount upside down and smack it into a brick wall and it keeps working, with a v it would fall off just from being flipped upside down.

I've been really happy with the HC's so far but I've only had them for about 6 months.

Thanks for your opinion. That's also a problem I've faced in the past, but didn't really factor that in until I read your post. So thanks!

I'd love to hear others opinions and personal experience with these different mounts.

Love the Gold Mount, and I've had to use V mounts in the past and they just don't hold on to the mount as I'd like, The Gold mount for me is just more secure!! Just my opinion and experience.

I'm definitely gonna have to change my setup to a gold mount and see how it works. It definitely seems like it's the better way to go.

More opinions are always welcomed. Thanks again!

Hi Jonathan,

At a high level, there are two kinds of AB mounts: compact and standard. Not much difference except the compact, obviously has a profile that is not as wide but two of the receiving holes for the gold mount studs are theoretically not as secure. In practice, they are essentially as good. Anton Bauer sells there mounts either plain jane or with various mounting plates for particular cameras and some are corded with a power receptacles. Best place for getting info on the different kind of mounts is directly from Anton Bauer or use the search engine on B&H.

The one thing to be mindful of is whether or not you need to get the mounts that bolt from the top of the plate or from underneath.

I like AB batteries for 3 main reasons.
1. The mount is very secure. If I were to attach a battery to the ceiling using nothing but the AB Gold Mount, I bet I could hang from it. this leads me to reason 2
2. The batteries are built like tanks. My batteries take quite a beating on set (not from me; usually from careless PAs who drop the batteries and think nothing of it) I've never gotten rid of a battery because it broke.
3. They last for years. Compared to most other batteries on the market, AB batteries have the longest lifespan of any battery I've ever used.

I agree with David. AB mounts are much more secure, and there customer service is awesome to work with. Atleast in my experiences :)
