I just got my Pilot from BH photo about two hours ago, and I'm banging my head, I think I might be missing a part?

I got it with the AB mount as I'm going to start out with AA batteries -- My sled has a battery mount... but nothing actually attach to the mount -- meaning, no shell for the battery holders -- is there supposed to be one? Am I being thickheaded and just not getting this?

I've attached a photo of everything I got with the sled -- if that doesn't work, you can also see the photos off my site here:

any help would be really appreciated.

You need an anton bauer battery to mount to that gold mount. The mount is complete as photographed

Eric is correct, and he put it as simply as can be put. In case you need a little more elaboration, you got the wrong sled. AB stands for Anton Bauer which is a certain brand and type of battery that mounts on the mount currently on your sled. It is FAR different than a AA battery.

You can keep it and buy some Anton Bauer batteries. They are far superior, but also a lot more expensive, though I'd be curious to do the math over the life of an AB battery vs buying disposable AA's (not to mention the environmental cost of throwing all those batteries away). Or, hopefully you can exchange the rig for one with the proper mount. OR, if you or someone you know is handy with electronics, you could easily modify your rig to accept AA batteries somehow.

Hi!

You can also contact Tiffen to get the AA battery mount and replace it, if exchanging the entire system is too much of a pain. That way, you'll have the AA battery mount you want today and the AB battery mount you'll probably grow into.

The part number for the mount should be in the back of your Pilot manual, or you can contact Tiffen directly.
