Not earth shattering news I know, just wanted some opinions on it. I already have a JVC Everio GZ-MG36/EK HDD camcorder, and want/need something that will do mini DV too.

Want because it means if the University's post production suites are full, I can capture my work on the camera and use my own FCP suite (there's something in the UK called Disabled Students' Allowance, which I got because of my sight, they paid for the Mac and Final Cut Studio 2- in case you wondered how a 19 year old can afford it!). This should ease some headaches and mean I've always got access to a capture device.

I need it, because a friend works at a local concert venue, and is speaking to the owner about me offering to film gigs for bands. I realised to do this, I'd need two cameras/tripods etc. So if that goes ahead I've got a gig on 12th September and need to be ready for it. Anyone with any concert experience who'd like to reassure me that it'll be fine, I'd appreciate it (my friend thinks the owner will say yes- they allow photographers in). Oh, and how cool is this? They'd close off a whole balcony for me!
