Just got the Merlin and am a bit confused as to which settings to use - the ones in the cookbook seem to differ from those suggested by users, and a lot of people are suggesting settings for an HV30 with accessories, while mine is stock. Does anyone here have the right settings for a stock HV30 on a Merlin?

The Cookbook settings are incorrect, I set my brothers Merlin/HV30 up and it's nothing like the cookbooks rec's. It flies BEAUTIFULLY with perfect balance. I'll have my Brother get me the settings and post them later

I could be totally wrong, but that seems like an awful lot of weight for as light of a camera as the HV30. Wouldn't that make it bottom heavy?

mount plate zero
finish end weight on nose
2 full weights plus start anf finish weight on bottom
arc set to full +

season to taste
