Sure Juan.... last month, for the tv serie "Un golpe de suerte", a producer call me: At Palma de Mallorca, 5 days like camera op, and 2 days like steadicam op......4.000€/month. I just fall in laugh. Today, for a tv program 12 hours......550€, with gear and assistant... Do you want the name of the ops?...(some ones are in this forum, and with the excuse they´re newbies hold this rates (400-500€ journey with full gear+assistant)....They are being newbies so years ago.)
This grinds my gears.....

Amando.
It would be great put the names,I can't because some of them can think that is a strategy from my company but you are free and independent operator and it would be free of suspect.I can say that we know who are they and the list is too long.
All the best and count with my support.

Hi Juan ,Amando
Why don't you consider inviting all the steadicam op's together and consider to have a steadicam guild of spain and issues like this can be approached at a group level and not on one to one situation. You will alway have ops doing it for less but as a group you may have some guidelines
to work from base rates and upwards tv rates feature rates etc .
May I say Ops are low balling here to just to get the work .
Good luck

Hey Juan,
as Louis said, have a meeting and make some phone calls as a collective group you have more strength to demand better rates.

also, as Loius Said, you will always have the the ones doing it for less, but that's not to say they will not learn the importance of holding the rate.

I can say, over here in the live TV circles I can refer any of the guys and they will all say the same rate and if they don't know what the rate should be they call and ask, it makes for a much less stressful freelance existance.

All the best

Hi Juan!... No; You, me, we could to do it, but not today...
About your enterprise, Steady Factory, I only can said that every time you asked me to work, you payed me full "spanish" rates..Right and most impotant, you payed me at time...
I know that somel works you made (stead-fact) in low rates... ONE SECOND PLEASE...!!!!... Your low rates was for a "Local Tv. and you gives an oportunity for an assistant who grows to op, with an old EFP (Cinema prod.), and you never had economicals profits. And never your enterpr.. had a rate lower 300-400€/day/20days/month...for a newbie op in a LOCAL Tv. giving a professional chance to a newbie. That´s all right!!.
Of course, just me....., envy are in the wind... Stead-Fact is on the wave, but I know, that if I had laboural problems, I ever had a working place at your´s...
HATE YOU...Grrrrr......

Holla Espania,
a french steadicam operator association has been created in France and and one of the purpose was to "fight" for the rates . We are already 34 members !!! I am in the association and I am Belgian and live and Belgium but France is my main market so it' s my fight too. IT' S GREAT not to be alone and together you might have more power to deal with the productions. Of course it' s also difficult because you are dealing with different opinions , markets an needs .
Our association is the AFCS " Association française des cadreurs et cadreuses Steadicam" and our president is Jacques Monge.
Good luck
